You beauty! Recently found this sport and loving it! So many good trails around here, we have the goods to be a world class outfit that attracts plenty of visitors! Perth residents shouldn’t have to travel 2-3 hours to go MTB riding on new maintain tracks. Update the Kalamunda/Mundaring trails and allow it to be developed more.
- while it’s great to have “trail centres”, can we also push the smaller metro based trails as per the 2017 master plan please. It would be great to have a local trail rather than having to drive at least 45 minutes to the nearest
- What about down hill & freeride zones ? Riding trails are great but we need some dh trails and big dirt jumps too not just single track and Cross country, Stop mining on the Darling Scarp around Jarrahdale and Dwellingup – classic destinations for MBT, go for a drive down Kingsbury drive just past the top of Serpentine dam and take some tissues mate, its a disgrace what they are doing there.
I have just been able to add “mountain biking” cover for my staff under worker’s compensation insurance so they can take our NDIS participants on “green” trails. Went to Lane Pool Reserve for the first time a couple day’s ago and the Mountain BikeTrails trails are really nice.
However there is no cell phone coverage which is less than ideal as not everyone can afford a satellite phone or beacon for emergencies (like a bike accident, a snake bite etc). It would also be useful to have clearer maps and signs inside the park and clear indications on whether there is a bike shuttle service (bus) for going back uphill and at what times it runs.
I saw a “shuttle lane” but no information on the shuttle. Without a shuttle only athletes can use some of those trails as riding back up to get your car (after riding down hill) would literally kill you
